Kykkos Monastery & Troodos Mountains Tour
Experience the natural beauty and rich history of Cyprus with a full-day excursion through the Troodos Mountains and a visit to Kykkos Monastery, one of the island’s most prestigious and historic landmarks.
Our journey begins in Kakopetria, a charming, traditional village nestled in the heart of the mountains. Wander through its quaint streets, admire the picturesque houses, and explore the mini waterfall and tranquil surroundings.
Next, we make our way to Throni, located on the top of the Troodos Mountains amidst lush pine forests. Here, you’ll be able to admire breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding area and visit the tomb of Archbishop Makarios III, the first President of Cyprus, whose legacy has had a profound impact on the island.
Our main stop is at the Kykkos Monastery, founded in 1092 and dedicated to the Virgin Mary. This magnificent monastery is not only the wealthiest on the island but also home to one of the three surviving icons painted by Saint Luke. Admire the beautiful architecture, explore the golden shrines, and experience the serene spiritual atmosphere. During your visit, you’ll have free time to discover the monastery’s treasures and enjoy an optional lunch.
